Networking 191 is a great course and there is a lot to learn. The course starts off with basics about TCP/IP and OSI models and leads into routing protocols, switches, small network configuration, troubleshooting, and network security. The course project was a lot of fun because the student gets to envision how they will set up their own small home office network (SOHO). The professors also have discussions about how we would set up our own networks getting us into the mindset of what networking is. The hardest part about this course has to be subnetting. I promise you once you learn subnetting everything else becomes easier. Attend the class lectures as the administering professor does go over subnetting multiple times. Learn binary as a plus prior to starting the course so a time is saved on an entire section. We also touch on network security with firewalls and risk assessment, management. This is helpful because if you are in a cybersecurity program, you can get a leg up on learning this prior to entering the harder security courses. As always have fun, these classes are a ton of fun.
